Dr. Julie Bradshaw MBE is joining families and staff at Rainbows Hospice who are taking the plunge in a 24 hour Swimathon in memory of Susan Taylor who tragically died while swimming the English Channel earlier this year..the swim takes place on the 29th November  -

Capel-le-Ferne

We returned to Dover at the weekend (2/11/13) for the CSA channel dinner...
it was our 1st chance since our swim in July to go to the swimmers channel home Varne Ridge at Capel-le-Ferne to pay our respects to our much loved and much missed Friend Susan Taylor

Susan had stopped at Varne Ridge in preparation for her channel swim 
The Varne Ridge Channel Park owners Evelyn & David Frantzeskou  have put a plaque up on the channel swimmers Wall to remember Susan .. and also  Varne Ridge along  with Susan's family and Friends have raised funds for a memorial bench in memory of Susan to  be placed alongside that of Paraic Casey`s on the cliffs of Capel-le-Ferne  looking out over the English channel in the New Year, if you get the chance when you are swimming next yr and for yrs to come..please pop along and take seat for a few minutes and enjoy it’s a beautiful views ..and  remember  2 beautiful and Brave swimmers x

For The opening speech of the evening we were very lucky and honoured to have Mr Simon Griffiths Editor of the great H20pen Water Swimming Magazine .Simon is an amazing supporter of channel and open water swimming in the UK and the World.

Celebrate some of the country's most outstanding achievers in the world of Aquatics Athletes, teachers , and coaches of all ages and abilities, from all walks of life are recognized and congratulated for their outstanding achievements

 The Swimtastic   are not just about the awards dinner, 
its much much more, we meet at lunch time...
to firstly meet and chat to the stars of British Aquatics
Olympic , world champions , world record holders , GB water Polo ,
 GB Diving,Synchronized  and
Disability swimming in the Uk
after meet Stars comes the real fun part of the Day..
"Swim with the Stars.."
it really was a  fun afternoon  for the children yes, but also  mom`s and dad`s 
its not everyday you get to swim with Olympic champions

Just one the Winners tonight , the amazing young girl Mia McGrory..
Mia.had open heart surgery this year ,
 but after just 6 weeks she was back in the pool and swimming..;-)

Ricks did not get award as such this evening , However our reward
was to be just to be nominated , and so we able to witness
the amazing swimmers here tonight and hear their personal
stories of how swimming has help them and others to have a better lives.
  
once the awards ceremony had finished it was time to let our hair down ( not that we have much to let down these days ) and try and dance the night away and also get a chance to meet some of the top people from tonight awards and from  ASA British swimming
