SurvivaLifeguard Adventure Series: No. 3

The SurvivaLifeguard Ideal" 
is the ability to perform rescue or utility functions in harsh conditions. Based upon the concept of a rescuer’s journey to get help, the SLCSC Adventure Series provides friendly competition & purposeful exercise in & around the water during the winter months.

Time for Another lovely Sunday morning of outdoor sport , .
it was Beautiful sunny and if slightly  chilly morning at the lake today..
with a the air temp of around 2 degrees ,
and the water temp around 8 or 9 degrees ..
it would be the  first real cold water dip of the winter

We had the pleasure of welcoming a Swan Pool Virgin  today..

the big man did it with some humour.!!
he was in pain really..lol 
100 seconds in 8 degree water , easy for a channel legend

Once the swim is finished ,  
is time to Bike , Run , Kayak , Canoe , Knee-board, Row ,
 Bike-carry , Bike-run , and more.......!

Great news.. 2Swim4Life 2015..Sold Out...!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh wow....places all snapped up in 3 weeks!!
anyone wishing to go on a reserve list in case of drop outs (and it does happen!), best email on the info@2swim4life address on the website - rather than Guildford please. Can't promise anything......

Great news, Ricks will be there in Guildford on the  2nd-3rd of MAY 2015, 
we are bringing 6 swimmers ( 3 teams of 2 ) to have another bash at the toughest swimming  event in the UK  2swim4life  , swim  1 mile every hour for 24 hours.. to add to the fun , the event takes place in an outdoor 50m lido pool at the beginning of May, which is only slightly heated..;-)

once again Ricks  had  the pleasure of  joining 
 The Birmingham Lifeguards & SLCSC safety team 
for another great Sunday  morning of outdoor sports !
 it was  second installment  of the Rescue/survival  winter  Adventure Series at the swan pool 2/11/11..
water temperature around 10/11 degrees , 
air temp a lovely 14 degrees..once the rain stopped ..
( for use of all pictures ,a big thank you to Anji Page and Dan Earthquake

Aquatic’s 
recognised unsung heroes  at national awards
A host of talented swimmers, volunteers and aquatic professionals were recognised by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) 
at their inaugural Awards ceremony  in Birmingham.
Split into eighteen categories the Awards celebrated the commitment and achievement of those involved in aquatics in the UK.

it was a total privilege to witness and hear the stories about what incredible people of all ages are doing for Swimming in the UK .!

There were  so many amazing swimmers  of all ages here today , everyone with amazing stories to tell, but perhaps our favorite was  John Harrison..
John is Britain's oldest swimmer   100 years young, and has  been swimming for 93 years..!!! and shows no  sign of stopping, in fact john is still making a splash , having early this year set  with SIX world records when he was 99..

Survivalifeguard Training

Fabulous  morning at the swan ,
off course we did some open water swimming and some mountain biking ..
but today was mainly lots of  practicing different life saving rescue scenarios ..
with The Birmingham lifeguards team..
The Birmingham lifeguards  marshal Triathlons  ,open water  swims and 
 ultra distance  events throughout  year .!!
